Success Stories

Bats You Helped Save

Every animal has a story. Here are two that began the same way yours can help start โ€” with a phone call and a willingness to care.

Orphaned bat pup rescue story

Tiny wings, big recovery

A pup found in a parking lot in late June โ€” eyes still sealed shut, weighing just 3 grams. Six weeks of round-the-clock feedings later, she was hunting moths at the flight cage. Released in August.

Bat conflict resolution story

A colony saved, not exterminated

A Cedar Park homeowner called convinced he needed pest control. We arrived, identified a maternity colony of 200 evening bats, and designed a humane exclusion that moved the colony to a purpose-built bat house in the backyard.

"Bats are the unsung heroes of every Texas summer night โ€” and Austin Bat Refuge is the only reason so many of them survive."
