Luna arrived at the refuge as a tiny orphaned pup, weighing less than 5 grams. After six weeks of round-the-clock care — bottle feeding every few hours — she was healthy, flying, and ready for release with a group of other juveniles. She was released at Congress Avenue Bridge on a warm August evening, joining the colony she was born into.
A family discovered bats in their attic and were advised by an exterminator to use pesticides. They called us first. We performed a humane exclusion that safely moved the colony — including nursing mothers and pups — without harming a single bat. The family still watches the bats emerge from their backyard every summer evening.
